GotAuthentic Certification

GotAuthentic Certificate of Authenticity

The issuer of the Certificate of Authenticity guarantees the authenticity of the item and is responsible for the accuracy and validity of the information stated on the certificate and in the related content (GotAuthentic item).

The issuer can be GotAuthentic, clubs, associations or other organizations. Issuer means an institution that releases a certified item into circulation.

A Certificate of Authenticity is issued only once at the time of the first release of the Item into circulation, i.e. when it is sold by a team, in a team auction, or in a GotAuthentic auction. Only then can the Issuer guarantee authenticity of all the information related to the Item. If, for example, the Item was already in the possession of a third party, it is possible to issue a Statement of Experts or Confirmation of Authenticity for such an item.

It is always possible to certify only an unambiguously identifiable item with specific identification marks (unique manufacturer's code, clearly identifiable and unmistakable proofs of use, signature or other unique mark anywhere on the Item, including the inside).

The Certificate shall be issued by the issuer exclusively for the Item, for which he can undoubtedly guarantee the origin and history and for which there is no doubt about the method of processing or the stated use.

The Supplier is not obliged to issue a certificate for all Items that are released into circulation.

The photo documentation for the certificate is processed by the Supplier, which, by adding the Item into the database, transfers all related copyrights to GotAuthentic LLC.

The photo gallery on the Certified Item’s tab can only be changed in justified cases (e.g. low quality of the original photo) with the administrator's approval for the purpose of future verification of the item's condition at the time of its first sale.

A certificate is valid only if it features a hologram with a serial number that matches the database available on the GotAuthentic website.

The certificate is valid from the date of issue and is valid indefinitely. The validity of the certificate and connection with the Item can be verified by reading the QR code, which is linked to the corresponding Item’s web page.

The certificate is only valid with a numbered original hologram, its number and validity can be checked online at www.gotauthentic.com.

Certification process:

The Certificate Issuer is allowed to issue a certificate only for an Item for which it can fully guarantee its origin, authenticity and method of use.

The Certificate Issuer declares that it guarantees the authenticity of the item as described in the issued Certificate of Authenticity document.

The Certificate Issuer declares that all photos in the Item Card are authentic and gives consent to the use of any related copyrights to GotAuthentic.

The Certificate Issuer will provide photos of Item’s details in sufficient resolution to enable unambiguous identification of the Item, especially serial or identification numbers. Furthermore, for example, photos of repairs, stains or other unique signs of use.

The Certificate Issuer will affix Jerseys and other similar Items with a PermanentMarker signature on the inside to provide additional identification marks to the Item.

Other items that cannot be marked with a signature or that do not have other unique features needed for identification are marked with a hologram.

GotAuthentic Confirmation of Authenticity

Confirmation of Authenticity is published solely by GotAuthentic. The document has a similar use to the regular "Letter of Authenticity”, though it offers a higher level of security.

GotAuthentic warrants that the information provided on the Confirmation of Authenticity is a true statement of the player, official, referee, or other authorized person in possession of the Item. Confirmation of Authenticity proves who made the Statement about the Item.

The person who made the Statement and who releases the Item from their ownership into circulation is responsible for the truthfulness of the statement.

It is not possible to change a photo gallery on the Certified Item tab to allow verification of the item's condition at the time of its first sale. In justified cases (e.g. low quality of the original photo) a request to the administrators can be made to edit the photo gallery.

The document is valid only if it features a hologram with a serial number that can be verified at www.gotauthentic.com

Each Confirmation of Authenticity is equipped with a QR code, which opens an item tab with detailed information.

GotAuthentic is committed to displaying of details that will enable the unequivocal identification of the Item, especially serial or identification numbers. Furthermore, for example, repairs, stains or other unique signs of use of the Item.

GotAuthentic will affix Jerseys and other similar Items with a PermanentMarker signature on the inside to provide additional identification marks to the Item.

Other items that cannot be marked with a signature or that do not have other unique features needed for identification are marked with a hologram with a serial number immediately following the number shown on the Confirmation of Authenticity.

GotAuthentic Statement of Experts

The Statement of experts is issued by GotAuthentic based on a request from the owner of the Item to assess the degree of its authenticity according to point. of these Terms.

This type of document can be issued for an Item that can be properly assessed by a sufficient number of GA Experts (minimum three).

A Statement of Experts can be requested for those items that meet the requirements for the quality and appearance of photographs, especially primary and secondary images.

A GA expert can be a sport historian, collector (after referral and proof of expertise) or other expert on a given team, player or certain time period.

GA Expert always assesses only items related to his or her field of expertise (period, competition, etc.)

Experts evaluate the Item on the basis of photo documentation on the Item tab, other provided documents (especially photos), or after its physical inspection of the following attributes:

  • used material
  • signs of wear and whether they correspond to the item’s alleged type and length of use
  • method of processing (sewn or printed numbers, name tags, advertisements, their placement, duplication of material, etc.)
  • other specifics (optional, based on the personal knowledge of the Experts)

In each category, the Expert will award a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 10 points. The awarded marks are then used to determine the average and rounded to two decimals, which GotAuthentic will confirm by publishing the Statement of Experts document. The maximum possible mark of the Statement of Experts is 10/10, the minimum is 0/10.

Rating scale GotAuthentic Statement of Experts:

  • 1 - The Item clearly and demonstrably does not correspond to the description.
  • 2 - The item has a high probability that it does not correspond to the description.
  • 3 - The item does not correspond to the description.
  • 4 - The item probably does not correspond to the description, but some criteria apparently matches the description.
  • 5 - The item cannot be clearly classified as one criteria does not match the description.
  • 6 - The item cannot be clearly identified and classified.
  • 7 - The item is apparently authentic, but no criteria clearly confirms the authenticity.
  • 8 - The item meets most of the criteria to be considered authentic. None of the other criteria clearly proves authenticity.
  • 9 - The item meets all the criteria to be considered authentic.
  • 10 - The item satisfies all the criteria for being regarded as authentic and, in addition, contains clearly identifiable elements.

The resulting mark is added to the Item’s tab in the database and the applicant receives the relevant paper document by mail. The applicant has the right to refuse registration (for example, in the case of a low rating). In such a case, GotAuthentic will not issue the document and the amount paid for the assessment will not be returned.

It is not possible to change the original Photo Gallery on the tab of the Item with issued Statement of Experts for the purpose of verification of the condition of the item at the time of its assessment by GA Experts. In justified cases (e.g. low quality of the original photo) a request to the administrators can made to edit the photo gallery. User can always add more photos.

The Statement of Experts is valid only if it features a hologram with a serial number that matches the database available on the GotAuthentic website.

Each Statement of Experts is equipped with a QR code, which opens the item’s tab with detailed information.

GotAuthentic reserves the right to reject an Item for review without reason. In this case, the paid assessment fee will be refunded.

Third-party certification acknowledgment

Based on the request of the owner of the Item, the Administrator may recognize another certificate issued for the Item by another certifying organization. This will allow to label the Item in the GotAuthentic database as “certified” so it could be found as such in users’ searches The user himself cannot mark the item as certified in order to prevent attempts to sell items with false or non-existent certificates.

A scan or high-quality photo of the certificate with readable text must be part of the photo documentation on the Item tab. GotAuthentic will only accept third-party certificates with appropriate photo documentation (preferably a Primary and Secondary image).

The main and the second photos of a Certified Item cannot be changed without the consent of the administrator after the third-party certificate has been verified.

GotAuthentic reserves the right to reject certain certificates without a reason. In this case, the paid assessment fee is returned to the user's Credit within 48 hours after such rejection decision is made.

In case of refusal to recognize the certificate due to fraudulent or otherwise dishonest intention of the applicant, the fee is not refunded.

GotAuthentic does not issue any additional documentation to acknowledge the Third Party Certificate.

Recognition of Third-party Certificates is charged according to the GotAuthentic tariff.

Loss or damage of the certificate

In case of loss or damage of GotAuthentic documents (Certificate of Authenticity, Statement of Experts, Confirmation of Authenticity), the owner of the Item can request a duplicate document. The service is charged according to the GotAuthentic tariff.

GotAuthentic will issue a duplicate document with a new QR code, the original QR code will link to a page informing about the invalidity of the original certificate.

A new document can only be sent to the mailing address specified in the User Profile.
