The first ever IIHF event for Greece, at any level, was the 1991 IIHF U20 World Championships Pool C held in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. The tournament took place between December 27th 1990 to January 5th 1991 with the Greeks losing all seven of their games. The closest game was a 14-0 loss to Hungary with their worst result being a 33-1 loss to hosts, Yugoslavia. Interestingly, the North Koreans (DPRK) won Pool C that year and gained promotion to Pool B for the 1992 edition of the World Juniors which would mark their only visit to the second highest division. This Greek jersey has average game worn wear and evidence of a nameplate which was removed at some point. More than likely, this jersey was used at several tournaments and exhibition games afterward the 1991 World Juniors. The weight of the mesh is too light for a 1992 Tackla jersey and too heavy for a 1993 Tackla jersey so, through the process of elimination, this jersey must have been issued to the 1991 Greece U20 team.
