At the 1992 IIHF World Championships Pool C2, South Africa hosted Spain and four newcomers Greece, Israel, Luxembourg, and Turkey. In their first international game since 1966, South Africa thrashed Luxemboug 23-0. Their run continued defeating Turkey, Israel, and Greece before losing to Spain 12-0 and finishing with the silver medal. Arn Potter, the captain of South Africa, was voted best defensman at the tournament. His 1992 jersey is made of heavyweight mesh and has the large Tackla captain's "C" and nameplate still attached along with very slight wear.
